Mr. Ravi Capoor is an accomplished bureaucrat and a visionary policymaker, who served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. With over three decades of experience in public administration, he has been at the forefront of driving key initiatives to modernize India’s textile sector and bolster its global presence. Under his leadership, policies were implemented to enhance industry competitiveness, attract investments, and promote sustainable practices, ensuring the sector’s alignment with global environmental and economic standards. He was instrumental in advancing flagship programs like the Integrated Skill Development Scheme and Technical Textiles Mission, which contributed significantly to the growth and diversification of the industry.

Beyond textiles, Mr. Capoor has made notable contributions in the domains of trade, commerce, and cultural development. He has held pivotal roles in shaping policies to strengthen India’s trade infrastructure, expand export capabilities, and highlight India’s rich cultural heritage on international platforms. Known for his strategic insights and collaborative approach, he has consistently delivered impactful solutions that address complex challenges, fostering sustainable growth and innovation across sectors.

He led India to setup manufacturing of PPE’s and Masks during the challenging COVID period. India went on to becoming an exporter of PPE’s in flat four months from zero. He also setup the Technical Textile Mission of India besides introducing the PLI scheme in Textile sector and launching the Mega Industrial Textile Parks of India (MITRA) for scaling up textile manufacturing in India.

He has been India Chief Negotiator for India ASEAN FTA, besides looking after India trade with ASEAN and CIS countries.
