Amitabh Kant is India’s G20 Sherpa. He is a governance reformer and a public policy change agent for India, having driven key reforms and initiatives during his tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog) (2016-2022) and the Secretary of the Department for Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) (2014-2016), Government of India. He has been a key driver of flagship national initiatives such as Startup India, Make in India, Incredible India, Kerala: God’s Own Country and the Aspirational Districts Program. He has also spearheaded Ease of Doing Business, Production-Linked Incentive Schemes (PLI), the liberalisation of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Private-Public Partnerships (PPP) in infrastructure, and Asset Monetisation programmes and policies for the Government of India. He has led the national effort to accelerate India’s transition to cleaner energy, leading sustainability initiatives such as the Green Hydrogen Mission and the National Mission on Transformative Mobility and Battery Storage, and pushing ambitious climate finance reform through the Green Development Pact in the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.

Kant is the author of the books ‘Branding India-An Incredible Story, ‘Incredible India 2.0,’ ‘Made in India: 75 Years of Business and Enterprise,’ and ‘How India Scaled Mt. G20: The Inside Story of The G20 Presidency.’ He is also the editor of ‘The Path Ahead- Transformative Ideas for India,’ and has authored over 500 published articles in leading Indian newspapers.
